A Fuel Pressure Reg every year????!!

    Hi all,

Every year for the past 3 years i am having an issue with the FPR leaking. The original lasted 180k the second 30k and the current about 30k too. I've done a search and this time i might try servicing instead of replacing.

What is causing this leak? I would like to get to the cause of the problem because it's not good enough in my eyes.

    TD5 auto 240k

    Thanks

    Adam

    Hi Adam,

I replaced mine about 8 weeks ago with a new one.... lasted less than 1000km before it failed big time. It was literally raining diesel under the Disco. All fixed under warranty.

It's done 238k, but I've only owned it since 210k.

On a positive note, it's very clean underneath now

I have been through probably 6 in 291,000kms and 8 years. I suspect it is heat hardening the O rings.

Perhaps the replacement was New Old Stock? So even though it was brand new, unused, due to being old and having been on the shelf for so long the rubber was hardened. In that way you might be better doing your own rebuilt as you probably find the o-rings were manufactured more recently.

So would we say it is down to the heat in the engine bay or the fuel lines that is causing the problem?

In the workshop we always replace the gasket, the o rings and the housing itself. Have you replaced the whole lot?
