    Exhaust / Cat Convertors rattling

Just back from 2500Km round trip to QLD from VIC.

Now on idle I have a rattle coming from inside the right catalytic convertor on my Rangovery (2000 MY D2 mechanicals).

Has anyone changed the engine pipes to a single Cat/Conv after the join in the engine pipes? Would it still be legal?

I know that there is an ADR requirement for the vehicle to meet emission standards by a certain time period after a cold start and this may have something to do with how close the Cat/Convs are to the motor. That aside would a single cat convertor get hot enough to operate effectively if mounted further down the exhaust system?

To replace the cats/engine pipe assembly will cost me a vital organ and it may be a good excuse to buy a TIG/MIG/Stick welder and have a go at fabricating new engine pipes myself.

2.5" sports Cat/conv's can be had for around $200 on fleabay.

Thanks Krayzie but I had already been down that road and fixed the heat shields with SS hose clamps a while ago.
