D1 transfer case into a TD5 D2 99
Hi all
I think the transfer box and gone in my 99 TD5 D2 and i have been offered a Transfer case from 1994 D1 V8. I have been told that it will fit but too look into if the D2 has a short or long spline for the transfer case.
I have very little knowledge on this so if anyone can advise that would be great.
thanks guys

It will fit ONLY if you pull it to bits first, and fit the front and rear output housings from your D2 tf case. This means you will have to remeasure and adjust the main shaft bearing preload as these housings are part of the set up of the bearing preload, which is adjusted using shims under the bearing outer cone in the case at the front output end. I wouldn't bother personally as the D1 of that age has noisier high range gears anyway.
Did you see the other post I put up about how to engage your CDL??? If your vehicle is a 99 then it will apply.
