After installing CDL on my 2000 D2 I had a few occassions when I would get an almighty bang when turning a corner, it would happen after 4wding but not straight after. I ended up adjusting the cable a bit more to ensure it was definately disengaging and I have never had the problem again.

My experience is the same. Light goes on when engaged and off only after it has disengaged regardless of cable in or out. Interestingly I too had a lot more bangs in the early days after fitting the cable and do not seem to get it now after disengaging. I wonder if there have been some sharp edges worn off by those early bangs so the thing slips in and out of lock a bit easier now? It still binds if it is wound up a little but there is no longer a bang when it comes free.

The previous 5years of using the AMV cdl actuator never gave symptoms like those, no wind up tension ever experienced and it always came out relatively sweetly, but I know that is was due to fail like they all seem to do so did the cable job for surety. Will adjust the cable as per above, can't hurt.

another increase in the knowledge base! Love it.

    Cheers

So light off means unlocked (assuming bulb good, which you said)
My D2 also has a cable operated difflock.

Sorry Alpick - it seems that either I was remembering my RRC or just plain didn't remember correctly.
