    gearbox help

    Anyone have a second hand auto gearbox in Perth?

    Driving home yesterday after a great down at the Yeagerup dunes. sitting on 110kph, heard a bit of a klunk, felt like we had run something over, then a high pitched whine from the gearbox. Very limited drive, slipping lots and really bad whine. Flatbed tow truck back home
    Anyone had similar?
    I'm thinking it either the pump or TC.

    any help appreciated

    Not this week, 2 weeks ago it dumped the lot. The pipe into the bottom of the box had come loose. Refiled and it was fine - until now

    pan off

    the first thing to do is drop the pan off and see what if anything is in the filter.

    let me know if you need a hand.

    Thanks Roger,
    I've dropped the pan, plenty of fluid, not burnt and filter looks OK.

    Well it must be D2 pain weekend.

    My Disco has hemorrhaged fluids everywhere 300km from home yesterday so will be getting another birthday (was engine last time).

    Symptoms prior were not there prior to the box spilling it's contents from the rear seal - which flooded the transfer case blowing it's contents in a ATF/Gear Oil mix.

    I'm guessing a blocked breather is involved. :-(

    just rechecked in a more awake state, fluid is burnt, quite black

    Consider fitting the better TC from Ashcrofts....
