Replacement time of the Disco's Battery

    Hi All
The battery in the disco is on it's way out and have got a few prices from the local dealers and they are little expensive have had the Century battery in it for the last 6 years but at close to $300 I cannot afford to replace it with the same one. One dealer suggested that I install a slightly smaller battery for the saving of nearly $100. Has anyone done this.
    Regards
    Doug

I've just put a Delko Nx110- 5mf maintenance free battery into my V8 Rangie for a fitted price of $160.00.

The previous battery was exactly the same type and I got rid of it when it was 3 years old only because after that time period I don't trust any battery - especially in a one car [auto] only bush vehicle situation. Mind you - the previous battery didn't have any problems and was still showing its condition indicator as 'Green' which is as good as it gets so it may have gone on for a lot longer.

The Delko may be a cheaper and reliable option for you Doug.

Mate, if you got 6 years out of a battery I would be borrowing $ to get another, I get the standard 3+ years (Exide) but thinking of Century next.

It probably depends on how you use your car. I have a few cars that are not daily drivers and can sit for weeks at a time without being driven. Over the years this has caused several batteries to fail prematurely. Once most batteries drain to the point that the car will no longer start, the battery will be damaged to the point that its life will be significantly reduced if not finished.

For the last 5 or so years I have only ever bought Century batteries and I am extremely happy with their performance. They seem to be more tolerant of draining and take longer to drain. Yes, they are more expensive to buy but they pay you back in the long run.

    Cheers
    Martin
