It may help if you tell how you know it does nothing. Was it previously working and now not or has it never worked or have you not previously tried it etc

What Fluids said, you need to be in low range or you get the gongs when you select HDC.

    Hi Fluids

No I dont think that I have tried it in low range before, will have to do this and see how she goes.

What typically should I see when it operates correctly?

    cheers

A light on the dash, with lots and lots of banging, grinding and whirring noises!

Bronson. Find a decent steep hill, with a bit of length to it. Put transfer case in low range. Push the M&S / Sport button, and selected 2nd (or 2nd gear low range on a manual transmission).

Take your foot off the brake and keep it off whilst the car rolls down the hill ... if HDC is working it will all become self explanatory very quickly !

As stated, the noises, whirring, etc are all normal ... once you get it working you'll understand!

If it sounds like the cars falling apart, it's fine.
