Thread: KM2s - disappointed

One of the reasons some people purchase BF Goodrich tyres is for some reason everyone raves on about them. If someone buys them and don't get the same results its disappointing because they're an expensive tyre. I have had incredible success with Khumos having 90,000km on a set of AT"s, incredible success with Bridgestone 694's at about 80,000 when I sold the vehicle ...and now I have Khumo KL71 muddies which have so far done 65,000km and will easily do over 80,000 in their present state. I have never had a puncture, sidewall split or any strange wear in any of those three tyre types and I go all over the bush, usually twice a year 5-6000km each trip. I don't believe any other tyre could outperform the Khumo's in any situation....they do dig a bit in red sand like the Simpson, but if you listen to me that's what you'd buy. Others will tell you different. btw, I have no idea how to repair a puncture....I have not had one in 30 yrs of offroading.

What size are you Khumos mate? I have been looking at the KL71 a little and just like the BFGs they are a different construction for different sizes. Near all the tyre makes are.

I too have never had a puncture in the bush, I usually find one flat in the morning with tech screw hanging out. Some of these have been too stuffed every for the tyre replairer to fix.

I have had 3 or 4 tyres blow. Given I've driven over a million km all over Australia, 3 or 4 ain't that many.

hey Joel, they're 245/70/16 ....they are unidirectional ie so you may want 6 if you don't want your spare to rotate the wrong way..funny thing the fitter installed the spare to suit the lh direction because " its the safe side to change a tyre " or buy 4 only and keep your best all direction tyre as a spare. they tend to be noisy.....they walk around on the lugs when new. like I said mine have 65k on them and I'm going bush again in a couple of weeks, probably 5-6000k trip....they may need replacing when I get back...will I replace them with the same tyre ....I think so.....I don't know current prices though.
