    low down turbo lag!!!!

    Hi there,

can anyone make some suggestions as to how I can try to gain a quicker turbo spool up.
Ive noticed that when trying to take off from the bottom of hills, its almost that bad that I have to put the car in low range just to get up hills.
Would a much bigger map help get rid of this?????
    and also a boost box????

    thanks

It sounds as though there's a problem somewhere, I know there's a bit of lag but not enough to warrant low range start ups! Have you checked the intercooler hose, it's known for delaminating and collapsing?

Has it been de-Cat'd? (year models 02+)
    EGR removed?
Are exhaust manifold studs / nuts all in place?
Any soot stains around exhaust manifold indicating leaky gasket?
Intercooler hoses alright? no cuts, internal delamination, etc.

Need diagnostics to look at live air mass flow rate, intake manifold pressure, wastegate modulation, etc.

Have you tried unplugging the MAF sensor?

    its probably normal,,
its why god invented sequential turbos,

FWIR the TD5 is much better than the earlier LR ones--

Its a 99 td5: egr removed, silicon intercooler pipes, straight through exhaust, ECU remap non flashable, all maf readings are around 450-500 grams when you boot it. I have a feeling it has oil somewhere as Ive noticed it again at the ECU after repairing this about two years ago, just not sure what is playiong up????
I must say thgough that they definitley need a better acceleration from a standing start!

What can I say these things have more dramas than Home and Away!

    cheers
