I made some a while back, custom one off they weren't particularly difficult to do, but never been asked to do any others. I wouldn't bother unless towing offroad camper trailers or off road vans on corrugated / rough roads with heavy loads in the back/ ball weight.

    Dont offset front shock!

It will crack the top spring mount....

    Seen it many, many times...

And as Justin said, unless towing heavy often, a good single shock will be fine - consider a 7100 Bilstein for hard work.

    Already have the Bilstiens 7100

Would like to put air suspension on the front

Spoke to the air bag man and they have a defender with full air suspension which looked awesome and pretty easy to do... It had range rover air bags

So what I am understanding is that there is no kit for the D2 for dual shock mounts..?

If they had a Defender in their have a look at how they did the front shocks.

From what I have been informed the towers from a Defender should fit on a D2.

There where a few places around that where doing twin shock mounts for Defenders but you will not find anything specifically listed for a D2.

    Also check out the following threads;

    Hi JC
I guess you might like some feedback on those ones you did. One lower mount cracked right off and the shock started bouncing along the road which was interesting and the other one was half cracked through as well, so some angle or force or something was a little bit off, so I just went back to single shocks (7100) on the rear

    Thanks for all the info

D2 is too high and the wife, grand parents etc.. complains every time getting into it have to put air on the front... Though the dual shock mount for the defender will not fit on the discovery as the mud guard is in the way... I thought there would be no problem getting a dual shock frame for a d2...

Dad is going to put full air suspension on the defender. If these front dual shock mounts are they breaking in the field ?
Will Have to look at making the dual shock frame stronger...

If your talking about the wheel arch you would need to do some trimming to allow the outboard shock to fit.

I dont think there would be anyway around this.

Hey, thanks for that. I know Cal put them through hell so not really suprised that at some stage the fatigue factor reared its head. As I mentioned before they were a one off, no real testing was able to be done and I got no feedback until now.

Sorry they didn't seem to have lasted, I do tend to keep the 'over engineered' factor in the back of my mind when designing and making these things, as they need to be functional and light, NOT heavy and overdone. Did you get any pics of the failure point/s? I'd be interested to see incase I get asked to do anymore.

    Thanks,

    JC
