    You guessed it...won't start

OK, so it's finally my turn.
Have had no issues at all untill today.
Normally starts and runs beuatifully. Got up this AM first bite and drove to work.
3 hours later drove it home.
About 40 minutes later thought I hit the shops, went out, and it cranked and rolled over easy but no bite.
Kept at it for a short time and suddenly it splutted into life and idled as normal.
Thought I'd be brave and ran it to a local garage to check the tyres on the basis I could lerave it if it didn't start.
Sure enough, wouldn't be in it.
So pushed it to a bay and went home.
Couple of hours later, decide to go and see what was what, key in and started first bite...drove it home no issues.
Stopped in the carport and restarted 20 seconds later no worries. Got really clever and pulled the loom from the inertia swithch while it was idleing and it stopped and the flashers started, and they wouldn't stop. Had to remove the earth from the battery. (Hope that's all I need to do to reset it?
Any way waiting a little longer to see if it'll start later...ultimately a trip to the doctor I'm sure.
    Any guesses?

Hi Tank...Ummm yea, details do help hey?

    4.o lt V8
56D*** engine #, not that that really matters.

Just been back out to it...showed it my screwdriver and socket set and threatened it's cargo area with disassembly, then before I got stuck in, put in the key, turned it over, and bugger me, she's away.
Must be a random sensor somewhere, so I'll see if Matty at Karratha brake can plug in and see anything when I can get a booking.

I had similar symptoms on a previous car which turned out to be the crank angle sensor. Worth a look.

x2 for CAS. They give hot start issues when, well, hot. There is a notorious Nissan non recall on them in xtrails where they were replaced during wty if complained about starting issues else leave and charge $800 to replace after wty expired.

    And it's done it again...
Lucky if the thing has done 5000k since the CAS was replaced.
Started cold no issues, to the airport, and 1/2 later no start. Waited another 30 minutes for the wife to get there, and away it went.
Got home. stopped it, waited 5 minutes, and nothing.
Getting the young bloke to take it for a code read today, and try and see what.
Surely CAS's aren't that heat sensative?

    Spare CAS

    Slightly off topic -

I'm heading on a 3 month outback trip this winter and I'm going to take a spare CAS as seems to be the consensus. Would people recommend changing the current one for a new one before I go and take the old one as spare, or leave the current one in place and take the new as spare?
