Checking the Windscreen VIN is easiest way to confirm if it's a typo.

Build date will be found above the L/H/F (passenger)Head light assembly on the downside of the slam panel. It will be pop riveted facing the engine.
VIN plate is located in front of the brake booster & the W/screen one as posted above to double check.

The Phat roof rails as said is only on the Platinum vehicles & the last of the 04MY D2's only, mainly SE & HSE spec. (had to get rid of the somehow!)

At the factory in Sollihul, the change point is September, when the factory closes & tooling is changed over for the changes to the next model year.
SO as some of the guys have said, you may have a October build vehicle that is actually the next Model year.

If compliance date is 04/04,build willbe earlier,maybe even late 03,even though VIN says it is MY04.I would guess your build is either01 or 02 of 2004.

For example,mine is not here so i can't check it,but i think it is built 02/04,compliance is 05/04,vin is definitely 2004.

Well I finally found it, the manufacture date. When you said "small plate" I didn't envisage such a small thing.

So, manufacture date 08/03, compliance date 04/04, registration date 05/04, VIN ..xxxx4xxxxx.. Must be one of the early MY04s.

That's what causes all the confusion,no one can find the build date!The plate is too hard to find.The compliance plate is easily found,& the date on it mistakenly used as the build date.

Hi All

I will look in the morning at Graham's 04 D2 project, which is stored at my place until Graham gets a couple other jobs out of the way.

It has a very squashed nose, but not bad enough to set the air bags off.
