hydrogen

A bit before Christmas I was talking to an guy in his 50's who had Hydrogen fed into his air cleaner on an Izuzu 4x4 truck with a homemade camper on the back, from a homemade generator. He drove it around Australia three times, the last one with 2 young Japanese girls, one is 21.

He used 20% less fuel and his Hydrogen generator is powered by a second 100 Amp alternator. His set up cost him cost him $780-- all up.

Unless he was deluded in what he told me, he now saves 20% of his costs for a trip. But I do not think so. He did show me his hydrogen generator, and he adds either an hydroxide, or sodium Bicarbonate [I forget which he told me] to the water in his hydrogen generator every 3000 km.

One day I would love to make one of these for my Land Rover.

Well, If we are going down the hear-say path.
A mate of mine (one of the Merc mates) put water in his fuel tank.
He has not used any petrol since.

The thing about the girls might have nothing to do with hydrogen but it made me read his post with my full attention and anticipation.

Yes Hydrogen fumigation on an engine works and makes it run more effeciently in the same way that LPG fumigation does (more or less)

No having the engine that your running from the fumigation provide the power to split water into HHO and then plumbing that into the engine wont work. Basic rules of the Game of entropy. Heres the rules

1. you can never win, the very best you can hope for is to break even.
2. You must play.

I'm glad you bring up money. After all these alternative fuels are simply about Making Money or saving it, it is very rarely about being green or bending the laws of physics.


The funny thing about disscusions like this is normaly doubters that quote generalised physics principles and slam people with a positive observation on the subject are also the people that have never tried it them self (or much else they don't really understand) because a mate of their sister's daughter's husband's uncle did and the two baked bean cans full of water he ran 415 volts through just melted and almost killed him. Oh and nature forbids it.......


I know a little bit about Bio-diesel and ethanol too? No secrets there. :p

Rather than insult me. Instead explain how you can take electrical energy from an alternator, use it to perform an electrolysis reaction, then recombine the products of the reaction and have a net +ve energy output.

And once you have explained the above, tell me why you aren't now able to power the world from free energy???

No one here has suggested that. The concept is that the addition of a small among of hydrogen added to diesel/petrol improves the efficiency of combustion beyond the cost of creating the hydrogen. The claim is there is a net financial gain, not energy gain.
