My Disco 2 Doesn't feel right to me
Hello to All Disco lovers ,
My disco doesn't feel right to me when i take off, i have had it for just over a year and a half i have done a lot to it to get it working (that's a story on its own).
I have had a recondition gear box put in about 3 mouths ago and since then it doesn't feel right when i take off it seems to have a lag from when i put my foot down and until it takes off, It revs it to 2200 rpm and then it jumps into life the disco has been chipped (by the previous owner )the lag is about 4-6 seconds.
Its also a td5 Auto but i have been told with it chipped it should take off immediately the old gear box took off immediately and this one doesn't.
I have taken it back to the place that put the gear box in and they say it is fine that's how it should be but it still doesn't seem right to me its.
Also using a lot more fuel on highway it is doing 14l/100kms around town it is doing 17/100kms before the new gear box i was doing highway 9l/100kms around town 11/100kms with my rooftop tent on both gear boxes.
so would any one know what could the problem be?
would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Michael

Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) maybe?
You'd usually get some kind forum member nearby who can swap one out with a "working one" to see.
Failing that, the same kind hearted member may have a Nanacom or similar that they can diagnose your issue with.

Mine did similar recently and it was a blown cat so I had to replace it and the middle muffler section and it was back to its old self.

Doesn't sound right, although the engine rpm seems right, my chipped TD5 D2 only takes 1-2 secs to take off.
Some mechanics will tell you all sorts of things when they don't have a clue.

You could check the auto oil level, should be done with the engine running and in P or N. Also you could check the rubber hoses in and out of the wastegate modulator for splits or leaks.
Good luck.
