Those "D" bushes on mine were split, and likewise the replacements.
If they're not, I'd just cut them in the same place as the split ones.
Hi Guys,
This is my first forum post since selling my 89 RR and purchasing a 99 D2 with ACE. I have found play in my front radius arm bushes and also in my drag-link outer tie rod. I do have a "clunk" when turning. After trolling through past threads I could not find - How to replace the rubber "D" bushes that clamp the raduis arm to the chassis. I thought the bushes would be split and would "wrap" around the arm and clamp up. Upon purchasing the bushes they not as anticipated. Could someone please help with some instructions on replacement. The tie rod will be easy and will be done at the same time.
Thanks Guy's, any help would be greatly appreciated.![]()

Mine were also split to allow them to wrap around the bar, I think from memory they were split along the flat side where it butts up to the chassis.
Thanks guy's the old ones were split along the moulding seam (top edge of D radius). So I cut the new ones along this seam with a utility knife. Installed the new ones with some silicon "Saphire" rubber grease to help them rotate onto position. Did require the jack to push the radius arm up until the bolts could be started. When fully tightened there is approx (2mm) gap at the split, but the bush is located flat against the chassis. I would not have felt confident cutting the new bushes, if you guy's had not advised it, so thanks again. Tip #1: Satrt job BEFORE (1) bottle of Chard' & 1/2 bottle of Shiraz - Otherwise , easy job.![]()

Took car for run after replacing bushes and no more annoying steering "clunk" whenever cornering - lovely. Also replaced dodgy drag link tie rod, all good. Now to get rid of the backlash "clunk" in my transfer case........
Pedro, could you please tell me what "Rave" is that you refer to - probably a niave question, but you don't learn if you don't ask...Right ???
RAVE is the electronic version of the Workshop manual from Land Rover.
