Ta. I have the tube arrangement on order, but was interested as to why the tube is needed (will be in my case anyway to insert a probe) and why someone would sell just the plate if apparently it won't do the job.

You have probably seen this tutorial, if not everything is explained
    www.discovery2.co.uk /workshop - EGR removal

btw the Defender TD5 does not need the EGR installed to comply with Austrailan emission standards. mine passed the new stricter Vic RWC no problems without it fitted.

Yep, I have, but had not fully digested urban panzers excellent info thanks.

Silly me - the tube is necessary to continue on to the turbo!!

With the kit I bought from EGRvalve.co.uk - LandRover TD5 EGR Kit there are no rubber blanks for urban panzers instructions as copied below.
Last but not least, you can now remove the small plastic vacuum hose that connected to the top of the EGR valve and runs back to the EGR modulator. Once the pipes are off, this is where you fit the 2 small rubber blanks included in the kit.
I may be jumping at shadows, but have asked my supplier to clarify/provide fitting instructions just in case.

Fwiw You can get the rubber blanking caps from supercheapauto or similar for a few dollars for a packet of five. 4mm will do the job.

can you enlarge on that comment - ie like did they measure the emissions from the exhaust pipe and it was all good - or what?

    Cleaning the inlet

EGR kit fitted and not impressed at the gunk in the inlet manifold. Do you need to disconnect the fuel cooler completely to be able to remove the inlet manifold? Once the manifold is off can you clean out the cyld head inlet ports without causing more problems?A mate asked if the sensor & computer can sort out the higher oxegen flow now the exhaust gas is no longer piped in. If the EGR is there to reduce the vehicles carbon footprint with lower emissions but the oil laden air from the engine breather and the exhaust gas halves the life of the engine, a new engine. Has got to put some big carbon trotters on along the way
Sorry for that stating the obvious is a pain
    Cheers Ollie

Thanks Very much for the link to the tutorial. I wish I had of found that before I ordered the plate. Yesturday.

Now I have to find just the tube set-up. Or get a mate to make it.

    Thanks again.

This really is an informative forum

Yes, subsequent to the RWC, but I don't have a print from engine analyser and all within 2005 spec, but mine also had the decat kit and a tombie stage1 ecu remap.

You can just fit the plate to blank off the exhaust manifold but keep the crossover pipe attached. If you have a pre 2002 model the (tube) on the egr valve is barely restrictive to airflow just disconnect the vaccum line from the egr actuator and plug both ends. Save your money for other things.
