    EGR blanking kit

Hi All, just was wondering where in Brissy if possible could I buy a blanking kit instead of ordering from interstate, I'm slowly going thru some jobs I would like to get done, I've just replaced the rotors and brake pads, new coolant, cleaned the oily connectors on the ECU and removed MAF and cleaned, have a new wheel sensor fitted so at the moment its going very well and should be ready for a few days away at Glendon for some much needed gold panning.

    cheers

    Ken

    Hi Frosty,

I have just seen one from the UK ( I know you wanted one local) it is only a plate and not a tube.

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

But is it cheap and possibly worth the wait.

I have been considering one for my new truck.

My question is.. are they worth the installation and can they do more harm than good installing one?.

Also does this possibly exacerbate the flow of oil up the ECU wiring harness if the old oil has no where else to go? Or are these two things completely unrelated?

    Cheers

Removing the EGR has absolutely no relation to the oil in the loom / ECU issue.
Blanking off / Removing the EGR is the best thing you can possibly do to increase the longevity of any Diesel engine , esp the TD5 . I would put it at the top of the to-do list, with the exception of a reduction of exhaust smoke you won't notice any performance difference but your engine will thank you very much.

What is it that the EGR blanking fixes, that is doing harm to the engine?

When you do the job and see the amount of accumulated black "gunk" that is in the inlet downstream of the EGR you will appreciate the benefit of giving your donk clean air to breathe.

One day I'll pull off the intake manifold and clean it all up proper like and use the stuff to tar my garage roof.

I googled the EGR last night and I now understand the issue. It is obviously there for good environmental reason, but it really is a bad idea to mix dirty air with good air and feed it to your engine. Guess I will be buying a blanking plate!!

So, having just ordered a goodun ex pommieland, does anyone know the operational and any other relevant differences (apart from the price) between a plate and the more expensive tubed arrangement?
