Coding ecu to vehicle
Hi all, new member here and after assistance already. I've just picked up a 2000 td5 which I would like to upgrade by swapping out the ecu with a chipped one. I've found a place in SA who will ship me an exchange unit but they tell me it needs to be coded to the vehicle. They say if I've got a friend with a nanocom or go to a dealer it's easy to do . I don't fancy the dealer approach and don't know anyone with a landy. So the question is : assuming I can get finance approval from the minister of homeland affairs to buy the unit, is there anyone out there in the narre Warren or Melbourne area who has the tools and the knowhow to do this and is willing to assist for a slab of cold ones?
Cheers
Dave

I'm surprised there's no responses from someone in Melbourne, which is usually the case. Surely someone can give advice and/or assist?

I'm in alexandra - about 1 1/2 hours from melbs. Let me know if you either feel like a drive or I might be in the city in a few weeks and could possibly lend you my nanocom.
Its those unfriendly types in the city that wont help

Thanks for the responses guys. Is it a difficult to code the ECU to the vehicle or is it self explanatory for you guys within the nanocom controls? I haven't bought the ECU yet as i'm still shopping around. Might have to wait till next month as a complete gearbox reseal, an EGR blanking kit and some cabelas seat covers have stretched the wife's patience a little
. Great to see that there are people willing to help though. If/When Iget the ECU i'll take one of you up on the offer. Many thanks.
