Turbo to sump drain pipe removal and replacement

Hi all, I've recently gone a bit crazy with ordering parts from the UK recently , and one of them was a replacement turbo to sump drain pipe and gasket as there was a slight leak at the turbo end and I'm looking for all leaks and attempting to get rid of them. Anything I should look for when doing this job/while I'm at it? Thanks, looks pretty straight forward but I don't think anything with these cars are straight forward lol.

I had a leak from the top of the Turbo to sump drain when I first got my D2. All that was required was a new gasket between the Turbo and drain pipe. I doubt there is anything too tricky, just follow RAVE and torque up to recommended settings and you should be right.

I use a 1/4" drive torque wrench that I find is the right size for 95% of engine maintenance/service tasks. Got mine off a seller on eBay that specialises in german tools. I swear it looks identical to the one supercheap sell with the difference that the ebay one comes with a calibration certificate and costs twice as much

I reckon a lot of follow-on problems are the result of over or under tightening bolts.

Make sure you don't over tighten those little bolts, it is very easy to do which will warp the mating surface and it will leak. I cannot remember how many times I replaced that gasket until I just bought a new pipe because it didn't stop leaking.

Thanks for the info guys. I actually forgot I had my turbo replaced and my mechanic friend mustn't of had a gasket for the pipe and maybe did them too tight. I will just replace the whole pipe and gasket as I wanted to make sure I got rid of the leak, now that I think of it I didn't have an oil leak before the turbo was replaced 2 years ago.
