Yes, but my wife was born in Brunswick.
    If that means anything?

    Hi Will,

Just had a peak at the chassis harness connector C0391, which is located between the engine fuse box and the radiator header tank.

I apologise for the dodgy focus, but you can at least see empty wire positions.

The RAVE Electrical Library shows the pinout for this connector:

    C0391cv.jpg

The third column (CCT) shows the circuit the wiring is related to. Circuit 13 is SLS and Circuit 10 is ACE. My D2 is ACE equipped and as can be seen none of the SLS wires are present.

As far as I can determine from the Electrical Library there are three pairs of connectors for the chassis harness. I've listed these below and what is wired through each connector pair. The engine fuse box side of the connector pairs are fully wired. The chassis harness side only contains wiring for the features present in the vehicle. The C0391 connector would not be present in a D2 which did not have SLS and/or ACE fitted.

    1 - SLS Compressor
    2 - Fuel Pump

    1 - Valve Exhaust SLS
    2 - ACE Valve Block
    3 - Sensor height LH
    4 - ACE Valve Block
    5 - Valve SLS LHR
    6 - Sensor height LH
    7 - ACE Valve Block

    9 - Sensor height LH
    10 - Valve SLS RHR
    11 - ACE Valve Block
    12 - ACE Valve Block
    13 - ACE Valve Block
    14 - ACE Valve Block

    C0378/C0392
    1 - Sensor ABS LHR
    2 - Sensor ABS LHR
    3 - Sensor ABS RHR
    4 - Sensor ABS RHR
    5 - NC
    6 - NC
    7 - NC
    8 - Sensor height RH
    9 - Sensor height RH
    10 - Sensor height RH
    11 - Filter water sensor TD5
    12 - Sender unit - Fuel Gauge
    13 - Sender unit - Fuel Gauge
    14 - Pump - FBH TD5

I was mistaken in thinking tail-light wiring was part of the chassis harness. It appears to be part of the body harness.

    cheers

Came across this pic in the ABS harness replacement TB. The image shows the route the chassis harness takes along the top rail of the chassis. I've added in red lines indicating the route I think the additional wiring for SLS takes.

Access should be reasonable good and it looks like adding wiring from a donor harness to the existing body harness should be fairly straight forward.

Not exactly sure which D2's had the harness routed through the chassis rail. The TB covering this seemed to apply to early XA vehicles only.

Access to the wiring on top of the chasis rail is an absolute bugger, unless maybe if you had the use of a vehicle hoist. When I had to re route my wiring to the rear of the car it was an absolute nightmare, there was minimal access and the wiring was held on top of chasis rail with plastic clips. I think the effort involved in converting to SLS maybe too much, although if you have patience it could be done.

    Hi Matt,

You could well be right. The main reason I was considering patching in the SLS wiring was because it avoids having to replace the wiring to the fuel tank. It appears that requires removing the top access plate at very least and potential removing the tank and tow bar bracket to gain access. The air harness runs along the rear cross member so this may be difficult to access too.

I had been planning to pick up a donor harness and see if it was possible to patch that in before proceeding any further.

    cheers

Some time ago there was a post here about a RRC full airbag suspension install.
Been looking but cant find it. I think it was airbag in place of springs, and manual inflation via cab mounted controls.
Airbags certainly give an improved ride, and since first introduced in RR, technology has improved, as has reliability.

I'm interested in doing something like this - maybe just airbags in existing springs? - on my D1.

I have standard height D1 and would love some extra lift, however the garage at my current house is quite low and have already bumped the garage door on the way in once!! So there is no room for a suspension lift....unless i can lower it to standard height for normal driving / garage storage and then lift it an inch or two for off-roading.

Thoughts? Could this be done to my D1? Even a 1" lift for off-roading would be great!

I know this is a bit of a dig.
But I was going to buy a controller kit from the US for a patrol project I have. Cost was about $850 from memory. Included wiring, control panel, valves and height sensors.
Then it would just be a matter of plumbing any brand of compressor in. And fitting airbags.

    I will find a link.

But the Dakota instraments was what I was looking at $850 - http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...=cat/cat71.htm

I'm going the other way from SLS to coils. Although my SLS system works faultlessly and how it should, just got back from a weekend away towing my van for the first time with this disco and I will be putting coils on. With coils at least I can use a WDH which does help with swaying. Before I get the you must have the van packed wrong, Been towing vans for over 20 years and its packed right. I will be sourcing the bits shortly but unfortunately just done the turbo on this trip so will have to wait for a bit money wise to buy the conversion bits needed. I'm not a big fan of SLS but do have to say it keeps it level no matter what and I do like being able to lift the back a couple of inches if needed. I reckon coils with polyairs etc is the go.
