I finally pried mum's hands off it and bought the car a little under 2 years ago now. Done 68,000km since then. Currently running a 2" lift with coil-rite bags. Amongst other modifications...

However it's not cutting the mustard when loaded, and it's not flexible enough off road. Plus the rear springs have sagged (TJM in the rear) so I need to get it back up to a true 2". And in my old age I want a nice ride

I'm putting the feelers out at the moment for suitable air bags (stock are not long enough for 12" of travel, hopefully the Arnott's Gen III will work. Either way I want a roll-over type bag.

I have an ARB compressor fitted permanently so will plumb it up to that. Will look at sourcing all the other components brand new, might make my own harness though.

    TBC....

    Mr LR

I have used these on 2 of my Discos now

Triple Bellow Suspension Kit - Airbag Suspension World

Disco UTE (D2 electrics / SLS) works perfectly! Always sits flat no matter whats on the back or what i am towing. 2" body lift and 2 - 3" suspension lift have 12" limiting straps to make sure i dont harm the bags no issues yet, been almost a year.

D2a Daily driver retro fitted from factory coils to factory SLS the bags above. No issues nicer ride than coils.

    Thats all the good stuff.

the D2 kit for above company is horrible... the bags will rub the chassis rail. So both cars have had a small mod done to the top coil seats to allow the bags to come out 20+ mm.

    my 2 cents

    Bags are good kit sucks!

    Hey Will,

WHen I was looking for alternates to the OEM bags for my disco 18 months or so ago, I sent out a few PMs to members that had run the arnotts in RR's and stuff. The Arnotts gen3 for RRC was substantially LONGER than anything I could find that would bolt straight into the D2. Unfortunatly the feedback I got was less than satisfactory with many many failures in a short time.

Essentially, thats why I went with the Boss triple Convolute 2603 bags, they ride differently to a rolling sleeve style bag, but aside from ginning about working out a custom dunlop/firestone rolling sleeve soloution they were the longest bags I could find they were "more or less" a bolt in affair.

I have the 10SB 7100's in the rear, with 400/100 valving and it Does NOT suit the bags, I have not long ago ordered some 400/80 shims to suit them. After a few simple calcs and talking to Joel0407 a bit about it, they seem to be a good number.

    Thanks Mick and Rob...

Everything I have heard about the Boss bags say they are stiffer than stock, which is definitely not what I want. So will be looking at different options for rolling sleeve bags I guess... (Doesn't help that I need so much down travel!).

Might have to talk to the airbag man again... apparently fitting different bellows to the D2 mounts was in the too hard basket last time, so I'd say I'll be fabricating brackets.

Re the Gen 3 bags, are you sure they are for a classic and not a P38a? I can't find anything on classic gen 3's online...

They were only stiff for a few thousand ks. And they dont store mud in the fold

Sorry, you are correct, they were P38 bags, regardless, they were arnotts, and the quality seemd to be their weak point.

If your ever up Newcastle way give us a shout, your more that welcome to take my disco for a test-toast and see what U think.
They ARE firmer that the OEM bags, from the research I did, all convolute bags are, but they are also ALOT thicker in their material, so should be more resistant to getting holes poked in them.
That being said, raised springs are stiffer than original too! I would still say that the Kings 190LBs in the front FEEL harder than the bags in the rear.

That being said, im not 100% on the front valving either, I feel 360/80 is a little firm on the compression side. Cross that bridge once ive fettled the rear end a little more
