Yep this happened to me while 700km from home. Do a search for "stuck in the snowies". I changed the "green" banded hose. It is a much more thourough job if you do remove the fuel tank. I insulated all the fuel lines and cable tied them all out of harms way.

Ok I'd like to declare to the world that once again I am more of a mechanic after today's escapades!
Thanks for all the aulro-sages who gave advice to me! I followed your comments and also rave and apart from being covered in Deisel it's all done.
I took out the cargo barrier, then the back seatbelts and cargo bins, then the carpet (OMG THAT'S HEAVY!!!) then I openned the floor access point. ;(
At this point I was disappointed as I didn't get as much access and view as I thought or wanted. Next off came the tow bar and I dropped the fuel tank. Once this was all done I could see all my pipes and was hoping the green fuel pipe was I fact buggered. When I felt along it I could feel some abrasions but definitely no holes or breaks. Anyhow I took it off, easier said than done, and pulled it out. After cutting the end of I did a pressure test (mouth on one end and finger on the end, yes high tech I know) and found the finest tiniest hole ever. I put the new hose in, and then put the whole car back together.
So off it was to the servo to get a jerry can of Deisel. So you may ask, why did I have a spare hose ready to go but no fuel? Well cos the stupid servo has a double pump and one side, labelled in the most faded green sign right next to a black Deisel sign, is a TWO STROKE PUMP! I mean what servos have two stroke? And what servos have two stroke right next to a Deisel pump with basically no signage? Well my servo does!
So fuel in, and engine purged and it started first time! And if heaven is a working Landrover with its owner totally dripping in diesel fuel, then I'm in heaven !!!!
I really hope this helps someone else who had the same problem!
Enjoy!

It very clear that Landrover really have no idea when it comes to securing hoses and lines to stop them rubbing on each other. Have a look around your engine bay and do a little preventative insulating. Fuel, A/C, P/S and coolant hoses/pipes. You will find all of them rubbing on something, or one another.
Oh, and well done Barney. My fuel line rubbed through late last year and I managed to do it without taking the tank out fortunately. Either way, dirty s##tty job.

Barney2803,
When my green banded hose started leaking, I took it to my LR Mech. He removed the little strip holding the carpet down at the back door of the vehicle and just lifted the carpet up out of the way. Got access through the inspection plate, did not need to drop the tank/towbar..
It looks like you stripped the rear of the car of carpet and side cards. Well you got it done, that's what matters.

Hi Guys,
After reading this series of posts, I am still left a little confused over whether the part number Xtreme talks about "P/N is YNI 500030 K and cost about $25", is the one I need when you look at my post in Technical Chatter, about the melted fuel line....
Can anyone clarify?
AND I still do not understand why a replacement plug cannot simply be put in place for the one that has melted. (I'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know it....surely the pressure isn't that high??) It seems a bit full on that the entire hose from the fuel filter to the motor, need to be replaced...
Cheers, Pete'

Hi
Make sure you fix the wireing loom that runs to the tank, stop it rubbing on the fuel lines. This was the cause of 2 holes in my fuel lines. The wires sit on top of the lines and rub, a bit of rubber and zip ties all thats needed

It is the $25/$35 part only that I used. It all clipped in and didn't need anymore clamps or anything, just the one item, not a 4 price kit.

Well all mine needed was the pipe replaced due to be chaffed through. It is a solid pipe an under
Pressure and omg it spits out fuel like nobodys business from a hole I couldn't even see! I replaced it with just the one item, bought for 25-35$$ not a kit just a single piece. I haven't replaced anything else in this area and it's worming perfectly.
