    D2 Rhino Racks

    hi all,

Have purchased some used rhino racks to increase number of racks on the roof of D2. these are the shorter ones at 210mm not 280mm as i like the lower profile looking racks (closer to roof line). they are heavy duty ones and all have pair of spacers 10mm each leg height increase. my problem seems the fitting of the racks to the gutters. some fit well others not so.

Q1. I have not trimmed any of the legs though i prob should to increase gap between rack and roof, what have people used to shave some of the legs (grinder)?

Q2. I have not taken off the plastic gutter finisher though think this will make little difference. Have people removed these of there D2 to fit rhino racks?

Q3. Not 100% convinced but the angle of the steel behind the leg clamp makes the rack not clamp as well as it should. Im finding as i tighten the legs the clamp wants to rise up and out effectively not locking into position. Have people re bent the metal that clamps the legs into position. Some fit well others cant seem to fit. Not sure whether to bend the steel clamp?

    Any thoughts or experiences appreciated.

Angle grinder ... grind, test fit. Grind test fit .... until you have required clearance. I found I needed 2x 10mm spacers per leg to give sufficient clearance under the bars.

No, I never had to remove the finisher.

Rhino make different steel clamps to suite different gutter profiles ... if they are sliding out from under the gutter, they are the wrong clamps. You can buy just the steel clamp portion to suite the D2 which will fit to the legs.
