    Any Good News Stories ??

Don't know about you, but I'm finding reading the D2 forum a bit glum recently, with all of the issues that people are posting.

Any good news stories to cheer people up?? Any good products to recommend or people to thank?? Any projects that people have been working on that have come to fruition and that people want to brag about??

I have heaps of good stories! These vehicles aren't all that bad, yes we see a few dogs, but most are a joy for the owners and there is definately a 'thing' about driving one, especially chipped

So don't worry, it isn't ALL that bad

I have good news just got this new key and remote case from eBay item number 150729420057 great service and as far as I can tell it is an original Valeo $25 delivered.

Good deal to get something good for Barry that didnt cost an arm or leg.

    Cheers Matt

    Sorry, good news doesn't sell.
That means news posted on this site "sells" like hotcakes!

In recent months I have been using info on this site (as depressing as it can be) to ward off the impending doom of a breakdown out the back of beyond. That means preventative maintainance and repairs in spades!

The Disco therefore has spent mast of its time stationary. This is an excellent way to save on fuel (while forking out a small fortune in spare parts etc!)

Don't tell anyone, but I'm actually enjoying the process. Masochistic tendencies increase exponentially with years served as a Land Rover owner! The invoice pile stacked up on my desk is as thick as War & Peace! There may be an analogy with owning a Land Rover in that title.

Yes, I've done 600kms without cooking my td5 this week, after weeks of gurgling coolant noises and that sinking feeling that the head gasket was the culprit it seems that it's the secret pipe below the turbo that's weeping - the only join I've not eyeballed and cleaned!

Ps-WA's south west forests emit a smell that's not unlike EP90 when it's raining, so don't panic that you've just shed all your axle oil when driving don there in the wet!

I had 3 of those D2's,not one ever let me down on the side of the road, they were all bought new.
The last one an MY04 was one of the best vehicles i ever had.My oldest son now has it,& every time i see it i still recon it looks better than the D4.

The first one did have a couple of issues, particularly oil leaks, and in those days they only had a two yr warranty. It was the first of the D2's,my99,the first of any model run often has a few problems.

Sure,i looked after them well, had them serviced correctly, etc.

Definitely paid off, particularly as we did a lot of remote area travelling.

In the last few months I've had a 2" lift installed, replaced the injector loom, ADDED a turbo to sump drain pipe GASKET, serviced the tranny, got my transfer case leaks sorted, replaced a cracked tail light , added a transfer sump and spacers for the front crossmember, identified a strange rattling that was coming from a rogue piece of metal lodged on top of the hand brake drum, changed the breaks all round, replaced my water pump, oil feed pipe to turbo, replaced waste gate valve, fitted new MAF sensor (just because and keep the old one just in case), removed the EGR valve, replaced the rotoflex and bushing in the rear prop shaft... And a wash.

And I think that's about it, I've got a few more plans but it's more cosmetic like replacing my sundamaged wheel arches and fixing one of my actuators so I can open the back door lol. But from all of that the car is driving beautifully and I think I would most attribute it to 1) fixing my t-case leak and 2) servicing the tranny which wasn't done for 40k. I also want to check if the bolt inside the sump is threadlocked or not so I have the parts for that but don't want to do it till I need to do the oil as I changed it and the coolant when I did my water pump.
Most of this wasn't breakdowns, it was more preventative.

I,ve done a nice little modification to my Disco using an old alarm sensor and a battery voltage display.

Cost about £15.00 GBP, and gives you a good idea of what the batteries up to.

Does this cheer anyone up ?.
