Fold up rear step interferes with reverse sensor
Can anyone help;
I recently fitted a factory fold-up rear step to the back of my D2. It came off a 7-seater, and mine is a 5-seater. By the way, this was an easy 10 minute job. Anyhow, after fitting it, the next time I put the car in reverse the reverse sensors gave the continuous sound. I have confirmed that the top of the step in the retracted position interferes with the second sensor from the left. I confirmed this by chocking the step down a bit and then trying the car in reverse again. I had to lower the step about 4 inches before the sensor stopped detecting it. I have disconnected the electrical connection to the sensor closest to the retracted step and now none of the sensors work. Is it correct that all 4 sensors must be connected for the system to work? This is where I'm up to. I'd like to keep the step and have the sensors work properly. Any ideas?
