A1050 QT front diff guard
Hey all. Im wanting a QT front diff guard for the d2 but would rather a bolt on without welding. I have see nicks/urban panzers write up and he used the one for the defender aka the a1050. I emailed QT to check and they stated that this questions comes up pretty regularly and they have prepared a fact sheet for this situation and it is as follows:
The A1050 front right hand drive diff guard has not been designed for the Discovery II for the following reasons:
-
The highest point of the guard rubs on the panhard rod and in some cases will not fit at all.
-
If the A1050 is “made” to fit then it will foul the plastic on the engine undertray.
The A1055, universal guard which fits the Discovery II,has been designed in a way that the low cut front will not obstruct the panhard rod.
With regards to the welding, it is just a matter of 2 small lugs being welded either side of the diff pan after which it is a straight forward bolt on guard with access to oil drain holes.
The A1055 diff guard is the same guard we fit to the Qt Wildcat which has proven to be incredibly robust in the toughest conditions.
We cannot hold responsibility for damage which may occur to the A1050 when an attempt has been made to fit it to the vehicle with no refund available.
What does everyone think?

I got mine from a supplier on here (See Vendors section), and am very happy with them, similar in design to the QT, half the price and easy to fit.
Have given me no issues
I too was going down the QT route until I found these, quality and fit is excellent!

I'm sorry but I can't seem to find it. If it isn't too much trouble do you have the link handy?

I have also purchased and fitted the Defender front diff guard to my D2a. Bolts up fine. Just had to cut a small section out so that I can access the diff filler plug without removing the diff guard. No clearance issues - but I have a 2" lift, perhaps that resolves any clearance issues.

Hmm. I also have a 2 inch lift, and no panhard rod interference? I wonder what QT were on about. I'm gonna see how this guard from one of the vendors goes as I've spent 2k+ without really realising in the last 2 weeks and ive got to get back on track financially.
