    Thank god for ratchet spanners

Did the TD5 water pump today.....thank god for ratchet spanners is all I have to say.

If only they had of made the impellor shaft 2-3mm shorter, it would have been an easier job!

Good result though, the old one didnt have much life left in it at all.

So why do people make it out to be replaced regularly??

Just wondering what year TD5 you have?

My original water pump lasted 9yrs 100k km(bearing seal) replacement cheapy lasted 3yrs 30km (casing o ring seal failed).replaced with genuine last week.

Much easier job second time as I had ratchet ring spanners.

    Cheers

    Uumm .... .... it's still on the workbench ...

... I started working on a bracket to shoehorn it into the engine bay, got sidetracked, and it's one of those unfinished projects .....

Better make a note about that one

    Thanks for the reminder !!

Timely post - I've got a water pump there to replace, and have been pondering the purchase of a set of ratchet spanners. Looks like its a goer.

I've got a leaky manifold, and a few oil leaks on that side anyway, so seemed an appropriate time to replace the pump.

For comparison, mine's done about 185k and is the original, and seems to be leaking both coolant and I think power steering fluid as well.
