    stiffening the rear end

i recently had a plate alloy boat built and had a few concerns as while towing it seemed to vibrate i have checked tyre pressures etc towed it behind a couple of other cars and it only does it on mine 2004 d2a sls so my question is is there a maximum ball weight ? or recomendations to stiffen up the rear endto stop the vibration wobble [side to side ] or any other sugestions
    thanks

When you say side to side, if you have a lot of ball weight you will have to pump the tyres up more to prevent the side to side from flex in the tyres sidewalls - its not a vibration like you describe though, so may be something different that I'm describing.

i was talking to the boat builder this morning too as he has towed my boat too and we are going to move the trailer axel forward abit to reduce the ball weight and i will look at recomendations for new rear shocks as they are the original ones

My fathers' boat(16 ft fibreglass mid mount V8) had the same problem.

The fix was to remove the axle and add some toe in on the axle(it was a solid axle. It was removed from the trailer, heated with oxy/acetelene and toe in of 1 degree or so was bent into the axle at both ends)

Results were spectacular. A rock solid trailer that towed without any wobbles.

    Cheers,

    Jason

have you weighed it yet John?

Dont forget all that ball weight also is the weight on the jockey wheel,,
so if you ever have to move it around-----
