My thanks to all those who have pioneered and posted all the information about the ignition lock. I used all that today to pull out the barrel and remove three bent brass wafers that were causing me grief getting the key in and out. The whole job took about two hours - the biggest delay was working out how to remove the pin that keeps the barrel in the lock housing; in the end I just drilled it out and replaced it with a small self-tapper screw. I also left out the ball bearing at the mouth of the key slot - it effectively just acted as a cam and blocked the key going in and out of the lock. Now the key goes in sweetly, turns over with minimal pressure and exits just as smoothly. Perfect. I also cut a slot into each of the two 8mm bolts so I could replace them (see photo) with a screwdriver. Worked.
Daz.
