    There goes my extras budget...

Just got the D2 back from the road worthy inspection.
    Results are:
    - Leaking front diff pinion seal
    - new break pads needed soon
    - water filter leak
    - coolant leak from somewhere high up in the manifold.
Any ideas as to the cost of these individual items/ repair points?
And any opinions on the coolant leak would be helpful
    Cheers

=Disco Muppet;1698290]Just got the D2 back from the road worthy inspection.
    Results are:
    - Leaking front diff pinion seal- $120 mechanic- $30 yourself
    - new break pads needed soon - Variable if Discs needeed also. DIY depending on brand of parts $500ish (inc Discs) -Mechanic up to $1200
    - water filter leak - Umm..what water filter?
    - coolant leak from somewhere high up in the manifold. On the inlet manifold side I would suggest it is actually the fuel cooler O rings. If its on the Exhaust side it could be hoses or the head core plug. Neither manifold have coolant galleries.
Any ideas as to the cost of these individual items/ repair points?
And any opinions on the coolant leak would be helpful
    Cheers

+1, wat? Maybe he's got a puratap in his car :P

All the other things seem cheap and easy enough to fix...

    - Pinion seal is easy as to replace and it costs only about $20

    - Brake pads - make sure you get genuine LR They cost about $200 all together or something like that, shouldnt take you more than 1hr to replace them all

    - And find where that coolant leak is coming from, by the sound you need a new hose or something, again cheap as to fix

    Righto cheers for that.
Far as i know, its just new pads, no discs.
It's a Td5, so it has the water fuel filter behind the drivers side rear wheel.
Update on that, driving home the light started to come on sporadically, sometimes for 30 seconds, once for about 5 minutes.
Going to pull the wheel off, clean and inspect it now.
I'll also look for that coolant leak.

drained the fuel filter, cleaned the plugs, put it back in.
Buzzed for a bit but now is all quiet, light hasn't come on again. seems to be right.
Next up will be that coolant leak
However, It's the long weekend, and I just finished a PITA of an exam so Dad and I are going down to Macquarie River to check out the trails there.
Thanks for all the info, I may just bug you for some more answers/ advice later.
    Cheers

Yeah but up here in QLD you see some rust buckets and really poorly maintained cars. IF you sell your car you need a roadworthy and that can cost a lot to put all those little leaks and annoying issues to rest that you would be forced to fix each year when they occur.
