    head

I had a oil leak from my head gasket front of the engine (Td5 2002, 200,000km) drivers side, I had the head taken off and replaced the gasket which my mechanic said was worn at that spot.

Now 3 months later oil again from the same spot. I did not have the head tested when off, mechanic said I again need to take it off and this time will need it re done.

Moral of the story if your taking the head off, have it checked!

No Offense but Moral of the story should be to Change Mechanic, Unless it was a Pinched gasket he should have looked at the Kms completed on the engine and recommended to you to get it checked the first time around. Now it's going to cost you more $$ and time without your Vehicle. Sorry but can't stand incompetent people

    X2

Have a good look at your alternator mounted vachume pump feed line.
Some of these weap at the join and they screw in to the right front corner off the head.

The injector loom also passes through the head here and has 2 "O" rings that should have been changed when the head was off.
Worth asking the question to see if they were changed.
    Cheers, Kyle

    Doubtful it's the head.
As others have already said, check.

There should be some serious coolant and compression leaks before oil on a TD5

Even though a change of mechanic is in order, you may need to work with him/ her for a satisfactory outcome in this case.
    Cheers

I have had the D2 back to my mechanic and he thought there was a stud hole at the front of where the head meets the block where the oil could be coming from so "glued it up" however the leak is persisting.
His call is that the head needs to come off again and needs to be checked to rectify.
I would like a second opinion. Any suggestions in the Perth area...

Not able to see it so what would I know but second the thought about the injector loom O rings. You probably have done it already but if not degrease the area and be sure it is not just these leaking.

Sounds dodgy to me, given the cost of head work him recommending it again makes it pretty sus, especially if its something he's supposed to have fixed.
