A couple of things come immediately to mind like the front prop/rear rotoflex coupling. The latter has a right and a wrong way to install it.
But you seem to have covered those!!
You don't have an engine missfire under load by any chance?
Of course it will flash the mil lamp if its an extended missfire but an occasional one might just be doing it and you are un aware. I use an autologic to "see" actual dynamic engine activity like miss-firing.
Since you have changed out the fluid for a syn type did you flush out the torque cooler lines?
Normally I just put Dexron 3 in them and I am presuming the O ring on the fliter to valve body didn't get miss-placed upon offer up or forgotten!!
You could as an experiment put some tranny additive in the fluid but you might want to get a scanner on it in case the lock up clutch is prematurely engaging or sticking.
That will cause a shudder for sure if its engaged when it should be in converter phase.

Thanks zedcars . I did a double oil change to syn oil to try and fix the shudder, so no not a full flush . The old filter o ring was still in place. Would the miss fire if there was one come on only after about half an hour drive?.
I just drove 70 km on the highway with no problems, but then i didn't have any traffic lights or start stop driving.
Will try some Lucas also on advice from two different individual Hanover repairers .
It was scanned with no faults coming up.

The misfire readings zedcars refers to is a V8 thing. There is a sensor on the V8 which detects misfire. You are running a Td5, right?Originally Posted by BIG O

Yes td5. Drove from Brisbane to British Offroad at the sunshine coast and back today (warranty job on water pump) only experienced one bad shift near home. Might still try some additive..

I have had lots of shuddering problems with customers Landrovers most of them due to other things like the prop shaft and missfiring etc, basically stuff covered on this thread.
Now we don't have TD5's on this side but I see plenty of complaints about missfiring and performance issues with our "bretheren" in the UK, that's why I mentioned it.
As for fixes in a can, I confess being old school, (MV apprentice in the UK in the 60's) but you really can teach old dogs new tricks when it comes to some of this stuff available off the shelf.
I often use B&G products--(can you get these products "Down Under" ?)
And I have just agreed with the missus to carry Lucas products in the shop, (she's the pretty one in the back office)!
So in short I would be grateful for some feed back on the effect of the additive in the auto box.
ps (I see you blokes are are Brizzie, I have a brother in Queensland , left UK as a 10 pound Pom in the 70's)
(Now there is another Williams tribe Down under--must be the genes)
