    Good feed back chris...

2k 2.5k is my shifting gear range at light normal driving.. Hard driving 3k to 4k. Standard set up.. I need to read up on how this tc can fluid lock up.

Ive always thought all tc had 10% slip until a lock clutch came in at speed.. And lowering the stall speed means it will take up to that 90% Drive early..

Im downloading a workshop book..ill Read up on how it works.

I've had one of the Ashcroft HD Torque Converters fitted to my Td5 Disco. The stall has come down to 2200 revs as everyone has stated. One adverse thing I've noticed is that I get more vibration through the engine and gearbox at idle in park. I can feel it in the seat of the vehicle and you can see it when watching the exhaust tailpipe. I contacted Ashcrofts regarding this and they couldn't offer any advice. I asked if the torque converters are balanced during manufacture and was told that they do not balance them. These are 10lbs heavier than the standard torque converter, and I'm starting to think that the standard 3 bolt flexplate isn't up to the job. The P38 Range Rover, which these come from has a 4 bolt flexplate.

Has anyone else noticed any extra vibration at idle from these converters?

Not really, at all. Most likely suspect is that you have 1 or both engine mounts failing/ed. Last one we replaced improved the whole vehicle, in most aspects, except if there is ANY backlash evident in your transfer case or diffs, it will be more obvious when selecting drive or reverse.

If this is the case, only replace with original LR ones, aftermarket ones are rubbish.

The flex plate is up to the task IMO, the P38a ones break regularly , I wouldn't think they are any sort of upgrade at all. Having said that I always replace the Td5 flexplate when fitting a trans or just the Torque converter .
