Thread: Discovery 2 ECU

Hi, seems that you guys know your stuff regarding ECU's. I have a 2000 TD5 Auto with the 3 amigos. I've done the re-wiring option B and when trying clear the fault code in the SLABS menu my Nanocom returns a error message saying it cannot communicate with the ECU, but when I look at the engine data it returns engine statistics???? Would this mean that the ECU that controls the ABS, traction control, hill decent may be faulty ??? Thanks
    Travis

There are a specific factory maps which are required for the EU2 and EU3 engines.

Td5 auto EU2 ROW requires fuel map SUTZP004-SUHDR009 for the NNN000130 ECU and SUTZP005-SUHDR009 for the NNN500030. The fuel map is the same but there are differences to accommodate the two ECU models.

These are the base factory maps for the ECU's, and give correct functionality. If you purchase remap, the remapping changes are made to the factory map which you supply to the tuning firm.
    Only glitch in your info...

AUS spec vehicles are not "ROW"

Are you sure ROW is correct ?
Are you able to explain difference in EU vs ROW for everyone

And why ALL oz adr compliant vehicles are EU?

No, I'm not able to explain the differences. I'm simply going off the database from test book.

Perhaps you'd like to explain the differences and then we'll all know

Having just read this thread, I am hoping to buy a TD5 this weekend. I will then be getting a Nanocom. This TD5 is an 03 model. Does this mean I can remap the ECU for performance myself, unlike others that have to be "chipped"

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

You will be able to load and unload maps yourself(with the supplied software and purchased fuel map),
if you can operate a laptop--

    Believe it or not--
our own TGO has some stuff too.

A laptop is only required to load the map file to Sdcard. Both the Evo and the older one are standalone tools for remapping.

And in many ways its simpler than using a laptop. If you can program a tv timer you should be right

From this, does this mean you have access to testbook? Can you tell us if the speculation that the V8 ECU contains both 4.0 & 4.6 maps, does it run the same map just configured slightly different for emissions and quantity of O2 sensors etc. Or are the ECU's for 4.0 and NAS spec 4.6 D2's different and I should source one from there, close the loops on the non existent sensors and ignore what I can't fudge?

I wish. I just have a copy of a flat text database from the testbook/IDS cd which lists all the available maps.
