    Wtf? D2a alarm

Hey guys, weird one for the morning. Car alarm goes off so I go outside and turn it off (press remote to open car). Checked to see if something has moved inside to set it off but all appears ok!
Now go to lock the car and nothing locks but alarm beeps once like a doors not closed so check all doors and still same thing. Have started the car and even disconnected the battery but still won't lock!. Whats really weird is the stereo comes back on like 5 secs after I take the key out? Almost like accessories power comes back on?

Any help would be great thanks guys

Check that one of your door switches isn't broken or jammed. Your alarm probably thinks the door is open, hence why it's going off.

    Can't explain the stereo tho.

Hmmm, ok well taken it for a long drive, stereo now turning off but car will still not lock. Booked it into British off road on Friday to have a look see. Will keep looking into the central locking side of things till then. Sucks not being able to lock my baby up! Trip into was way to short lol.

Oh and stereo is aftermarket but never played up like that before hmmm...

There is a switch on the left hand side of the engine bay, that the bonnet activates when shut. Sometimes the switch can be moved out of position whilst you are working in the enginebay. The bonnet then does not make contact with the switch, and the computer thinks the bonnet is still open. I think it is the same as having a door open. Bob

Thanks Bob, had searched all that after a trip to british off road and where all good.
Have found the issue! The wife had plugged a sat nav device into the front 12v outlet on the weekend and has since been unplugged. Seems that the outlet was still somehow active like it was getting power put into it, which has caused the stereo to turn on lol.
Thankfully I did a web search and came across a guy with the identical issue and was easy solved by moving a 12v plug in and out a few times of the socket!

And the reason why the alarm went off in the first place would have been that my head unit has a motorized fold down face when the power goes off. Damn motion sensors

    Weird! Lol

As Jermey Clarkson says, you haven't owned a sports car till you've owned an Alfa, I believe the same can be said for land rovers. You haven't owned a 4WD till youve own a land rover! Lol

Thanks again guys for the help

Glad it was all good in the end. I'll put that in the memory banks for the future, we'll never get complacent driving Land Rovers. Bob
