    Angry Stereo issues

Okay, so tonight I pulled my stereo out to have a look at it, as I've just purchased a replacement head unit.
Pulled it out and remove all the cables, and I find these three.

Pretty sure this is connected to the 6 stack under the drivers seat.

    Antenna cable.

And these strange plugs, two of which were plugged into this; some sort of adapter piece im guessing.

    Adapter piece.

This end of the adapter plugs into the back of the head unit.

This end has the tan and grey plugs from the 3 plugs.

This is the back of the current head unit, with the adapted plugs going into the slot on the top left, and the 6 stack cable going into the slot lower right.

And this is the back of the new headunit.

I got pretty tired of mucking around with it, and put the old head unit back.
Code the message "Code", and I could put the first two digits in, but nothing after that.
Now, after much screwing around, i've got 8 dashes displayed on the screen.
Given the build date, I though i'd find the round pins, but apparently not.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers
    Muppet

EDIT Okay, so this all happened probably half an hour ago, just gone and checked and the 8 dashes are still there.

The "strange" brown and grey plugs are iso connectors. The green and yellow plug carries the wiring to the amp.

If you check the wiring diagrams in RAVE it's fairly straight forward.

If you are putting in a third party head unit you'll find that a suitable ISO adapter makes the job a lot easier.

Just downloaded a few electrical diagrams, hopefully ill get a look at them and see if they help.
The green and yellow one wasn't plugged into anything when I removed it.
But, from what you're saying, I don't need a "Car to ISO" I need a "Head unit brand to ISO". Is that correct?

    Yes, iso -> head unit.

This mob do a fairly good range:

I picked up a ISO -> Sony adapter from supercheap when I put a new head unit in mine. The only issue I had was that the unswitched power for memory backup wasn't connected on the adapter so I had to cut the original harness.

I'm about to retro fit steering controls so I was having a look athe wiring about the other day. Even on pov pack vehicles the wiring for the steering controls is in place from the steering column to the ISO connectors.

There's some useful discussion in this thread here re head units and steerign wheel controls.

IIRC there are quite a few head units that say they are "Steering wheel control ready" but they still require a PAC SWI to be installed between the steering wheel controller and the head unit.

If you have the stacker and the rear sub then you have the under seat amp driving the speakers not the head unit.

Yeah i have a 6 stack under the seat but no rear sub.
    Got it all sorted.
Just a heads up, if anyone gets the aerpro pioneer to iso, the plug is upside down, and i had to take at it with a knife and file to get it to fit.
Finally got it sorted out, still a bit of wiggle from side to side, but ill pad it out with some card board wrapped in electrical tape.
    It works though
