Purchasing TD5?
I'm thinking of purchasing a 2000 TD5 auto, (missing my series 1 TDi). It is low K's, 115,000. However it has already had the head gasket done recently, this seems very low K.s for this to occur. I understand it was done correctly, new stretch bolts etc. Service record seems quite good. Do you experienced owners think this could be an ongoing issue, I would hate to purchase it then find a new head is required etc. It is driving very well at the moment.
Thanks for any advise.
Andy.

Sounds Ok to me Andy, being a 2000 model it may have had plastic dowels in the head. Assuming the motor had not been cooked, changing the head gasket on the TD5 at intervals can almost be seen as preventative maintenance. Keep it cool and with good coolant and fresh oil.

Are the plastic dowels the head locating dowels? are there better replacements available?
Thanks again.
