I will be interested to hear the answer to this.
My 99 D2 TD5 is doing the same, and has done for 12 months or so.I have changed the injector washers,1 maybe 2 had a slight evidence of leakage, didnt fix the issue.
Its not glow plugs, they have been swaped for newbies in the recent past.
I too have to prime mine when its sat for longer than 24 hours.Overnite is normally OK.
Fuel pump on its last legs?????
I have cleaned the in line strainer next to the fuel filter. Will see if a new fuel filter is the answer as Im part way thru a service, the Defender doesnt do it.

Any way over 12 months now and hasn't happened again.
Thanks, I guess you were talking about the fuel pump output, wonder what that was about? If I get the time I will look into rave and see if I can sort out exactly what is connected to what.

In my first post I said there were no faults on nanocom. That may not be exactly true. There were some unrelated faults to do with the EGR. It was stuck open and now it is removed it is showing as stuck closed There were also some faults for all 5 injectors, forgotten wording but something like open circuit. I had assumed this was to do with changing the injector harness some time back but I had undone the battery when I did the change so now I am wondering if there was some problem with a loose connection.

I plan to leave the engine off all weekend and see if there is a problem tomorrow morning which would lead to taking a closer look, perhaps at the filter housing.

    Hi John
Those injector codes you mention are there from your oil in the harness issue.
New filter on mine and it was HARDER to start thismorning, perhaps I didnt bleed it completely,I noticed there is a minor diesel leak on the housing. Not enough to drip,BUT the old filter was covered in dust that had stuck to weeping diesel.
