    Td5 Won't start!

    Hi
I've just replaced my td5 with a new pump after I tried to start 2 weeks ago, I noticed it was harder than usuall to start. Next morning I went to reverse it out the drive and it would not fire, so after $550 I shelled out for a new pump, I fitted it not worries, primed it and it fired up. I noticed that the car drove really smoothly and was responsive. Today the low fuel light came on briefly as it was a bit low in the tank,so I thought better get some diesel. Filled it up and parked it for a while whilst I went shopping. Came back and noticed it was hard to start again, hello........,what's going on again???????got it going and noticed that the pump is squealing again when you try to start it. Now it won't start again! Could it be the fuel pump is stuffed again? Or a possibility that air is leaking into the fuel line somewhere?
    Thanks
    Bronson

Sounds like an air leak to me. Particularly as you've replaced the pump recently. I'd be double checking the hoses and fittings before going out and getting another pump.

Funnily enough it now suddenly starts straight away and the pump has stopped making squealing noises. Maybe there was an air lock or possibly it sucks in air when the tank gets low and the light comes on. The tank is 3/4 full so no probs with enough fuel. Not sure where to start looking for a leak though if it keeps going on.
    We'll see how it goes

Just went and did another test run, it doesn't start properly and sounds like there there is something knocking around inside the tank when you back off the gas in the driveway. I'm stumped

Well, somewhere between the fuel tank and the injectors would be a start

Given you've replaced the pump, that's be the first place to look.

    Hi

I pulled the line off from the fpr to the cooler and luckily enough there is diesel pumping out of that line,so that tells me the pump is working fine.
Thought maybe I had another crook pump, but my mechanic has said that he thinks the diesel is airating via some crook injector seals.
Its now pretty hard to start, and will idle but doesnt respond when you give it a rev.
Ive ordered some new o rings and copper washers for the injectors, hopefully that gets it sorted.
I'll let you know when see is done.

    Cheers

BlackNight had an EXCELLENT check for the injector areation.Go to the servo fill it to the brim and see if its bubbling out the filler neck.

Well I've had the copper washers and o rings done. It hasn't changed anything and the car runs like abos!
Could be injectors at fault anyone an injector test?

I suggest you check that the fuel lines at the pump are on the correct pipes and properly connected.
