Now if I ordered a car because the sales brochure said it came fitted with X,Y and Z, and the car was delivered to me missing Z, I would return it and demand that it be fitted. I almost see the brochure as false advertising.
Under the current (new) Consumer laws, my understanding is that you'd get exactly that. Or your money refunded...

Was it an Australian brochure or a UK spec brochure?

    I think you'll find it's a UK brochure.
It lists a spec below S which has A/C as an option - that model didn't make it out here.

I think the same applied to at least the early L322.

Apparently the Poms didn't know it can get chilly here.
Just to make it more confusing.

My 2002 D2 V8 ES has heated leather seats from the factory along with all switches.

These were the interior options for the 2002MY AUS spec D2, not saying the 2003/2004 were the same but no mention of heated seats here:

So it looks like electric seats included heating by default?

Don't think SD was an Australian model. In the US the SD was the last of the Disco 1 production which was sold along side the D2.

    From what I can tell:

1999, 2000MY's there were Discovery and Discovery ES.

    2001(???) and 2002: S, SE, SE7, ES

    2003 and 2004: S, SE, HSE

There were town and country special editions on 2004MY(?) D2's, which appear to have designed to entice D2 buyers after the D3 had been launched.

I'd want to have AUS sales brochures in hand for each of those years before I was 100% certain about the above.
