    Rear Brake rotors...

    Hello,
Well it seems one thing after another I have a bad vibration at the rear axle have rebuilt drive shafts, tried them one off the other one on and on then off again and still the same, no oil leaks or sounds of grinding, I would amuse that you would hear if the bearing were broken ??? is it possible for the rotors to be causing this ?? They are always very hot the hub is cool. could I have missed something, some times it goes great no vibration at all thinking it is fixed it comes back again.

It could be possible that your discs are warped at the hub or there may be some dirt/debris at the hub/disc interface - It might be worth checking the hub faces and cleaning up if needs be.

If the disc surfaces themselves are warped then it might have an effect - check the sliding pins on the caliper are free to move as well. I've just renewed my rear discs as they were undersize and I could feel a pulse when slow braking so they were also warped.

Have you replaced the donut on the rear and did you do the spigot bush at the same time? I think this bush can sometimes cause vibratiions - I didn't get round to doing mine due to lack of correct tools but I've only got the standard 80Km/h vibration!

    Donut X2,
I was getting a vibration at highway speed.
I put it down to over inflating the KM2's as it didn't happen when they where low after playing.
As part of doing the transfer box leaks I noticed the donut was no good.
Looked OK when fitted, be it with some age cracks in the rubber.
Once out I noticed the thread had torn and where visiable through the holes.
New one fitted and no vibration
    Cheers, Kyle

    Hello,
Spigot bush ?????? Is that in the end of the tail shaft ?? No vibration under braking, only when I am moving even from rolling back on the drive way with the motor off really thinking wheel bearings ?? or diff. Yes did fit new rubber going a lot smoother with everything I do, also checking the linkages on the suspension sitting on the back of the car today at Westrac there is a knocking noise as it moves up and down.

The spigot bush goes in the middle of the three hole drive flange out the front ofte diff

How fast are you reversing to feel the vibrations? Are the tyres okay and how old are they and is the vibration more prevalent in certain temperatures? Just thinking along the lines of uneven tyre wear or a tyre compound issue.... Bit of a puzzle you have there

    Hello,
Will check the bush, I am only rolling backwards......... very slowly, no bad noise coming from any where, when driving feels like everything is out of balance will remove rear tail shaft and try again, at the same time remove wheel bearings and have a real look and them, the rubber coupling was very worn..new one on.....Busy weekend ahead. I am sort of thinking I am going to come to a grinding halt some where.....

    Hello,
Since changing the rear output bearing found lots of loose metal in the transfer box so looking at rebuilding it very soon or replacing it.
    Ian......... not happy
