potential Sale of 00.MYII D2 -advice please

ADMINS PLEASE REMOVE IF IN THE INCORRECT AREA OK :-D

Hi All, Hope you are well.
We are in the process of relocating OS and as such aside from a myriad of things that we are in the process of doing.... it also means that at some point in time, I will unfortunately have to part with my trusty D2...

Whilst I am not parting with it yet, i.e. immediately, but... will soon be (as soon as our house sells).... Could those who have some valuable information to add, please advise....

    1. How long does it generally take a D2 to sell? Is it best to sell it in the state it resides or another state? What are the ins and outs of another state?

    2. Whilst I have had a good deal of work done engine-ish wise (IMHO)... should I request an itemised receipt from my mechanic who carried out the work (in addition to my email communications confirming the work required and his quote etc?) to provide to any potential purchaser?

I'm trying to keep it short and sweet & do have some other questions, however, I would appreciate some feedback & perhaps I can build upon this thread .... if I could take LP with me I would! Unfortunately hubbys FJ40 SHORT WHEEL BASE has precedence (& he thinks he can fit us 6 in there COMFORTABLY - WFT!) I disagree!@!

    Thanks,
    LP

    What is it a TD5 or V8.

You will sell it fast enough when you put a price on that someone wants to pay. This will not be anywhere near the price you want to sell it for.

I'm sorry to say it is a buyers market.

Look on the bright side. As soon as you relocate buy a D3 and then you can import it as your private vehicle when you come back to Australia. That will more than make up for any losses incurred with the D2.

DEpends on the price, scour all the sites (carsales.com.au, carpoint.com.au TP, Gumtree etc) enter fields that are similar to your vehicle ( eg 1999 - 2002) order according to kms and see what prices are being asked for the closest to yours ad place yours a bit lower to set it apart if you want it sold quick.

I've been poring over the sales pages for months, the ones that have moved the quickest were low kms and exceptional price, or plenty of mods, Theres been a few D2's with lowish kms that still took longer than I thought to sell (149xxxkmonly $7500ish) with warranties, and still took months to sell (one is still on there but the guys accent was so thick I didn't enquire any further, couldnt understand) PRivately selling with no warranty as a buyer I'd be wanting cheaper price (greater risk) and most definitely if you can print a list of what work has been done thats great, such things would go towards encouraging a buyer (along with maintenence records etc)
