    Question TD5 ECU's

Been hunting around and cannot find a straight answer..Can a TD5 Manual ECU be programmed for an Automatic; I have an Auto and want to keep the original ECU as a spare; I have a big trip planned next year and I am collecting spares.

I have a Manual ECU NNN500250. I have bought a Stage 2 flash that I want to use. So can this be done or should I keep looking for an auto ECU. Cheers Joe

    Hello Joe

With a Faultmate or similar, the NNN type ECU's can be programmed to any vehicle variant. Just last night I programmed a NNN500020 (manual D2 TD5) to an Auto.

That said, I have yet to see the NNN500250

Does the nanocom works with the Vehicle Explorer software as my MSV2 does?

In other words, can you use the unit to reflash software into your ECU?

No it doesn't use Vehicle Explorer. The Nanocom works as a standalone unit and can reflash without external software.

Does this mean that the Nanocom cannot change the gearbox type on the ECU?

cool, then all you need to do is select the right set of 2 files based on your engine type (EU2 or EU3), vehicle type (D2/Def, man/auto)

So the ECU is out of a D2 TD5 Man, so the car type is correct how do I find or change the gearbox file?

If the nanocom works in the same way as the MSV2, you have no choice but to erase the ECU and program both the vehicle variant and fuel map files anyway

The files only work in pairs, one for the vehicle variant and one for the fuel map depending on market and emissions. If you program the ECU with an incompatible set of files it wont work, but you can erase and reprogram it again.

For instance if you have a 2002 EU3 engine, start with:

    NNV001080 (swtnp004) NNS500170 (swdxr004)

please note - this is at your risk, sir! I can't take any responsibility for any consequences whatsoever

Do you have all the file info from nanocom?

I am currently at work so I will not be able to do this till Tuesday night.

    My current ECU is NNN000130 - D2 TD5 auto
    The 2nd ECU is NNN500250 - D2 TD5 Manual

I have a new map file from TD5 Inside Stage 2 and my original map file. I want to load the new file onto the NNN500250 and use it as my primary ECU and hold the original as a spare.

My understanding of what you say is that if I load the new map file onto the manual ECU the ECU will become auto.

Thanks I also understand that thinks go wrong and get broke ..Joe
