Brand new original steel Mantec snorkel,$ 286.70, + postage. Shipped from the UK, in about a week. Bob

    I'm guessing this mob:

    PM201 | Mantec Raised Air Intake - Discovery 2 TD5 and V8

£192 is near as dammit to $287.

I'm sure Mantec make a very good snorkel but, really, that one is like the plain exhaust pipe type of snorkel you'll see on a 4wd Action car (or my RR Classic).

Looks like my thread is taking off nicely haha.

If people are keen, maybe we should get numbers together for a bulk buy?? Decide on mantec or safari?

Will prob help save a few dollars for us.

Southdown 4x4 make a snorkel similar to a Mantec. The main difference being the metal pipe is made of stainless steel(I heard a rumor that the Mantecs have corrosion issues).
I chose the Southdown because it looks good, won't rust....and they throw in some free stickers woohoo.

    Cheers,

With the addition of a snorkel head, prebending so it fit's right out of the box, powder coating, templates for cutting the guard so you don't make a mess of it, a welded manifold to match the intake to the air box, the piping between snorkel and manifold, plastic edging for the guard cut and a reasonable guarantee that it will fit with little or minor fettling.

Otherwise it's exactly like your one Scouse.

IMO, the Mantec looks 'home made' so what I'm trying to say is.....if you want a home made looking snorkel then make one yourself.

Mine's home made & looks better than the Mantec - it even has a genuine Land Rover snorkel head fitted to it .
