""HELP PLEASE"" interior wet after heavy rain

Has anyone had water coming in the car after heavy rain?(about 80mm). I have a very wet roof lining on the drivers side kind of just on/under the sunvisor that goes from the grab handle on the side of roof above the driver to just the other side of the overhead console bit with the interior light is. My drivers seat is soaked as well as some of the floor carpet. There was traces on water on my console andsteering colum. I tried a search and the stupid thing never brings up anything to do with what I'm wanting to know, I cant figure it out. I have the factory rails on so is it likely to be coming in there or the top of the windscreen leaking?. I dont have sunroofs for this very reason so I'm at a loss as to where it came from.
    Any ideas please!

If there has been a previous thread I appologies as search is definately not my friend. A link to it would be very appreciated
    Thanks
    Steve

Hi have a look the the roof rack mount above the rear drivers side window. I had a similar problem and the foam "seal" was leaking but only in heavy rain. You can access the mounting bolt from under the headliner (it is a bit fiddly without removing the liner). Don't remove it just loosen enough to squirt some neutral cure silicon around the bolt hole. Tighten up and now it's nicely sealed. Good luck!

I'll guess windscreen has been replaced at some point and not done properly - unfortunately seemingly rather common.

Or the seal is perished / cracked somewhere.

Thanks Guys, I thought it had to be one of the two but if its windscreen would it wet it right around the side of the lining to just past the grab handle?,would it get that far?, and is it hard to remove the front roof lining without stuffing it?. I am really disapointed its leaked this bad. The whole reason I steered away from vehicles with sunroofs.

    Thanks

I have also heard of the seam sealer spliting on the front of the rain gutters, this could give similar symptoms.
    Worth a look?
