As Tombie said no reason to touch during servicing.
2 vehicles , 2 coolers, 2 turbos, same service centre ....bit more than curious.
As Offtrack says also crappy silicone gasket, or perhaps the methods used to ensure cleanliness during disassembly, repair and replacement are suspect.
What oils/ grade are being used during service?
What do you mean by a "blown" turbo?
Are the turbines rubbing, seized or is it leaking oil etc?
To be fair to the service mob, some more specific accurate info could be beneficial to all.
cheers
Sorry Strangie - missed your post.
Can't comment on gaskets etc, simply don't know, and not likely to be able to find out.
Both vehicles have full regular service history. Neighbour at the same place since car was new, me there since interstate purchase 10 months ago, and on his recommendation. Both cars otherwise in good/excellent condition overall.
Provider uses quality lubricants (currently Penrite HPR Diesel 5) and part owner/service manager had his own kitted D2 until recently. Workshop is well fitted out and always clean when I call in. All there middle aged plus and long term LR = Manager and 1 mechanic since apprentice moved on some time ago (pre me arriving).
My turbo had oil spewing into exhaust and back into front cylinder (presumably bearings?) = exhaust valve with a bit missing - I'm told it's now scrap value only. Neighbour not contactable at the moment, but his was also leaking oil - he replaced turbo.
Cheers
