Thread: HD steering rods OR steering guard?

Get both the bash plate is the best investment

You'll get big arguments either way with regards to the tie rod and drag link, but for me it's HD steering arms all the way as the stock ones are, well, I'm not allowed to use the language to adequately describe how poor they are on a G rated forum

Ive got both, went HD rods at first cause i got tired of bending standard ones, then got a bash plate partly cause i like the look of em and partly cause I had some spare cash burning a hole in my sky rocket plus it was on special at the time, HD have proven their worth enough times and the bash plate has done its job on numerous occasions dolla well spent, I just went with non greasable tie rod ends, always found em more than sufficient

What brand HD steering rods are you using?

I'm still stock at the moment. But was looking at terrafirma with greaseables or bearmach with standard ends.

Any I should 'steer' clear of?

I'm using Maxi-Drive HD arms. (fitted ten years ago with the OE TRE's)

As for tie rod ends, I bought QH as they
(used to be) greasable, but two of the three I bought four months ago were sealed, but they magically became greasable before they were installed too .

Got a verbal quote of $650ish for maxi drive so they are OUT. Hard to support local when double the price!

Karcraft in Siverwater Sydney import the Bearmach HD with greasable ends. I fitted these and protector that I made. The rods are cad plated and cost $220.00 for the pair, which was much cheaper than importing them myself, they just bung 'em in their container from the UK. They don't come with the bracket to fit the steering stabiliser but they are advertised as not needing it on the Bearmach site. However, I did fit a tough dog stabiliser RTC type and was supplied with a bolt on bracket and the whole setup works an absolute treat. I reckon steering response improved and I have not even looked like bending anything despite some hard knocks and several animals "going under". I would assume Karcraft would arrange freight to Brisvegas if required.
