    Some answers

Centifuge filter is every 20,000k according to the RAVE CD (maintenance check sheet), for nomal conditions,"More frequent attention may be necessary if the vehicle is subject to stop/ start operation, extremes of temperature, dusty conditions, off road driving or frequent towing of trailers." This may mean 5,000k for extreme conditions.

Full flow filter is every 60k, according to RAVE CD (maintenance check sheet).

As the filter and oil (good quality 5w-30 synthetic) is cheaper than a new engine or rebuilding one, most people replace both at the oil change, which is what I do, but with a lower service interval than 20,000K. (Usually 12,000k or 1 year, whichever is first).

Other makes exist for the centrifuge. Last time I priced a Mann Hummel filter (OE suppliers) in Australia it was about the same price as OEM from a dealer, even before the extra distance and time to get it was taken into account. Special order for the part was also required. Some service centres use Britparts and other makes, but the consensus I got from the experienced users on this site was to use OEM.

There have been problems with some of the aftermarket filters not spinning on the shaft, which is a check you should always perform before bolting the cover back on.

A local parts seller I use will happily recommend non-genuine for all the other filters but strongly recommends fitting a genuine centrifugal filter.

The items requiring changing under arduous conditions are listed on the rear of the most recent version of the Service Schedule:

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...3&d=1334884691

Unless you are idle the vehicle for extend periods and spend most of your time travelling at less than 10kph, in which case the engine oil should be changed at 400hr intervals, the arduous service recommendation for engine oil changes is 10,000km. While engine oil, fuel filter and air filter are all mentioned, neither centrifugal nor full flow filter appear in the list which would suggest LR think they should be right for the recommended 20K Km and 60K km respectively. At least one LR specialist recommends changing the full flow filter at 10K km intervals and the centrifugal filter at 20K km but the only logic behind this that I can see is that the centrifugal filter is significantly more expensive than the full flow

It is appears to be a widespread practice amongst AULROians to change both the filters at each oil change despite this not being strictly neccesary.

    cheers

There are service kits for about $80 delivered off flea bay with air filter, normal filter, centrifugal filter and fuel filters. Easy to do them all at once.

Would you use these? I'm just home from the desert and need to do a filter and oil change.

Looks pretty good. Genuine centrifugal and full flow are good. I've found the genuine/oem airfilters have a slightly better build and fit into the air box than the coopers especially on the rubber moulding around the edges, but coopers widely used with good results.

    filters.

Is the Roverlord centrifugal filter as good as OEM filter?
The whole package seems much cheaper than the two oil filters I bought at Bursons ($82.00)?

Ive been changing all three every 10k as they really are inexpensive. I've been paying just over $80 aud delivered from paddocks, all genuine. We also have a Toyota corolla (wife's) and genuine Toyota parts are significantly more expensive. So pretty happy to have the peace of mind for that price!

    1) Yes.

I use them all the time. Have cut them in half to check that they do work correctly.

    2) Yes.

    Cheers,

    Jason
