    Handbrake roll on

When applying handbrake for parking the D2 rolls a little to take up the driveline back lash I guess. This does seem excessive to me and points to the rear prop shaft donut having to much movement? On close inspection the donut appears fine? The handbrake holds on any incline.
Ideas? Or is this just a LR thing?
    Cheers.

All (brands of) vehicles with a transmission based handbrake do this...

    Nothing to worry about.

Mine does it too, it is an auto and there seems to be some slack in the driveline/diffs etc that cause this. My handbrake was not working when we got the car but adjusting the cable helped a lot, maybe I need to give it another tweak.

There is a really helpful post here somewhere about doing this, there is a nut with a locknut in the trans tunnel under the handbrake lever that needs to be adjusted to shorted the cable. You have to lie under the car and reach up around the back of the trans, lots of fun.

    Cheers,

    The D2 Owners manual:
    HANDBRAKE
Unlike most other vehicles, the handbrake operates on the rear propeller shaft, and NOT on the road wheels. This may result in slight movement of the vehicle after the handbrake is applied.

To engage the handbrake, pull the lever up fully.

To release, pull the lever up slightly, depress the button and lower the lever.
It is NOT A PROBLEM, ok?

Whilst the wife was rocking the D2 back and forth with handbrake appiled I got under, all the movement is in the rear diff lash.
Great method for checking donut and rear prop shaft uni etc.
I asked this question as my previous D2 didnt roll on like this...

I noticed that the travel increased after I fitted a detriot locker. I have been meaning to pull it out again to re-check the backlash, but you know....
Anyway, so far no problems, and off road it's great.

Only time it's an issue is when you're trying to park under a trailer, and it moves the wrong way.
