Std in late SE & HSE variants, was std in later 7seat variants, then became hit & miss. As you said was not mentioned in the spec brochure.

Random thought I know but I was wondering whether the compass in the D2 self dimming rear vision mirror was fitted as standard or an option. If it was standard were there any particular years or models that it was fitted to?
I have one in my MY03 S but it is not listed at all in the specs brochure for the MY04 models.
Cheers
Steve

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

In the few I've inspected it's always been only in OEM 7 seaters and also had the compass as well. I've looked into the wiring in 2 others and neither (one is mine) had the wiring.
The 1999 UK brochure lists the auto dim mirror and illuminated passenger vanity mirror as being part of the ES spec. It wasn't an offered option on lower spec vehicles, so it appears that high spec is a key determinant of auto dim mirror fitment rather than year.
My 00 Td5 ES has it. It may also has temperature display on it but I dont know to switch between compass and temp display.
external temp is displayed in the heater panel,,
Both mine have had it, though the green one was a demo so maybe optioned up,,
